CCES hosted two students from Shanghai Customs College, Ms Ruize Han and Ms Yuxin Qi, who participated in the INCU Summer Internship program from 5 to 23 August 2024 and spent three weeks at the INCU Secretariat office in Canberra, Australia.
During their 3-week internships, students worked closely with Head of INCU Secretariat, Dr. Mikhail Kashubsky, undertaking a range of tasks including reviews and updates to the INCU website, research and referencing, administrative aspects of the World Customs Journal, drafting correspondence, and preparing INCU member surveys. The interns also had an opportunity to participate in some social and cultural activities in Australia, including visits to the various tourist sites in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.
Initiated in 2018, the INCU internship program aims to provide customs students with an opportunity to further develop their skills and obtain professional experience in an international organisation focused on customs and international trade, to better prepare them for future job opportunities.
According to Ms Han and Ms Qi, this internship has been a pivotal step in their professional journey, which has provided them with practical skills, cross-cultural experiences, and a deeper appreciation for international customs and trade.
On completion of their internship, the students were presented with Certificates of Completion by INCU President, Professor David Widdowson.
