On 3 June 2016, CCES Senior Lecturer, Dr Mikhail Kashubsky, launched his new book Offshore Oil and Gas Installations Security: An International Perspective at the 23rd International Caspian Oil and Gas Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He presented alongside, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Mr Rauf Hajiyev, Vice-President of Ecology of State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Mrs Rafiga Huseynzade , Vice-President for Safety and Operational Risk of BP – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Mr Orkhan Guliyev, and Vice-President for Environment, Societal, Safety and Health of TOTAL, Mr Dieudonné Ganga.

About the Book
This timely and first of its kind publication answers key questions and examines the protection and security of offshore oil and gas installations from a global, industry-wide and company-level perspective. Crucially, the book includes a comprehensive dataset of attacks and security incidents involving offshore oil and gas installations entitled the Offshore Installations Attack Dataset (OIAD).
The book is based on historical facts, geopolitical analyzes and research. Dr Kashubsky said that the main purpose of the publication of this book was to attract attention of international organizations to the issue of the terrorist attacks on offshore oil and gas platform in promoting the adoption by those organizations of significant measures to pressing problems in securing oil and gas industry world countries, in order to prevent similar cases which are one of the causes of the global economic crisis. He also noted that this book is intended for a specific group of readers, which is engaged in the oil and gas industry, trains and is interested in this area. According Dr Kashubsky, translations are planned books in Azerbaijani and Russian languages with the support of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
