The Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES) is proud to support the Oceania Customs Organisation (OCO) in delivering customs education and training to its twenty-three member administrations across the Pacific.
Most recently, with support from the European Union and UNCTAD, CCES facilitated a train the trainer workshop for 19 officers from nine Pacific Island countries. The workshop was conducted in Nadi, Fiji from 16 to 20 February 2024.
The workshop forms part of a comprehensive program that equips participants with the ability to present a topic in a professional manner, imparting knowledge to their audience while demonstrating and applying effective training methodologies and techniques. While the program includes elements of theory, the principal focus is for participants to put the theory into practice through a series of presentations to fellow workshop attendees.
The workshop prepared participants for the next phase of the program, where students will be required to develop and deliver training to officers in their home administration. This will be assessed by qualified trainers and those who are successful will be recognised as regional trainers by the OCO, thereby ensuring the sustainability of training across the Pacific.
