On 27th September 2014, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) in Sri Lanka held an Open Day and IT fair at the KDU campus in Ratmalana, near Colombo for prospective students and their parents. Charles Sturt University (CSU) participated in the KDU Open Day following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in academic and research activities.
The two initial courses to be offered through the KDU-CSU collaboration are the Master of Customs Administration (MCA) and Bachelor of Border Management (BBM), which are expected to commence with the first cohort of students in early 2015. Associate Professor Stephen Muller represented CSU with assistance from CCES alumni and resource persons based in Colombo. There were over 3000 visitors who attended the event.
Professor Muller gave a presentation on the MCA & BBM at the Sri Lanka Customs HRD auditorium in Colombo for Customs staff. The presentation was attended by Mr. Jagath Wijeweera, Director General of Customs, Deputy Directors General and Customs staff. Commodore Shylendra Jeewakarathna represented KDU at the presentation.
