Mr Lars Karlsson has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Charles Sturt University for his ‘significant contribution to the public good through his outstanding input and influence in the professional practice of customs education and capacity building.’
Throughout his 30 year career in customs Dr Karlsson developed the world’s first partnership program between customs and the trading community, a program that is now being adopted by more than 160 countries. He also founded the formal link between the World Customs Organization and academia, leading to the international accreditation of customs degree programs. The Centre for Customs and Excise Studies congratulates Dr Karlsson on his award.
