On 21 April 2015, 15 Customs Brokers attended a 16 day course commissioned by the World Bank aimed to improve the competence and professionalism of persons carrying out Customs import and export procedures in Dili as well as at the land border with Indonesia.
Training was conducted by Centre for Customs & Excise Studies (CCES) Lecturers Mr Alan Murray and Mr Sarath Jayatilake. Topics covered included the Timor-Leste Customs Code, Role of the Customs Broker, Customs Clearance, Valuation, ASYCUDA, Tariff Classification, International Commercial Transactions and the role of Quarantine and other Ministries. Presentations were made in English and then translated into Tetum by representative from the Government Translation Service.
