CCES presents in International Webinar on Indonesian Excise Taxation

The General Department of Customs & Excise (GDCE) of Indonesia recently hosted an international webinar as part of its plans to expand the range of goods subject to excise taxation.  Titled ‘Excise Extensification: Opportunities & Challenges’, the webinar was held in English and also formed part of a separate GDCE program that seeks to enhance the English language competencies of GDCE staff.  Presentations were provided by Mr Nirwala Heryanto, Director of the Excise Directorate, Mr Sandr Qurnain, Head of Compliance Section Excise Directorate, Mr Permana Agung former Director-General of the GDCE and Dr Rob Preece of CCES, followed by a Q&A session.  Nearly 400 participants joined the Zoom session which whilst mostly involved GDCE officials from across the Archipelago, also included several foreign Customs Attaches from various Embassies in Jakarta.  Joining the Zoom participants were nearly two thousand observers from across the world who either watched the livestream or downloaded the webinar which was streamed via ‘GDCE TV’ through YouTube.
