Recently, CCES was engaged by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group to conduct a needs analysis in five World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries in the Pacific. CCES will assist the World Bank Group to carry out an analysis in each member country to assess its preparedness to implement the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (WTO-TFA).
The team of consultants from CCES launched the in-country consultations in March commencing with PNG. The team has met with both private and public sector representatives, visited offices that are involved with monitoring and regulating cross border trade with a view to making a practical assessment of the country’s situation with regard to trade facilitation. After PNG, the team conducted the needs analysis in Samoa and in July, will proceed to Tonga, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
