Rob currently is Course Director for Excise Studies, and has worked extensively in indirect taxation such as excise, VAT and environment taxes, as well as in excise equivalent goods and bonded warehousing. He is also a visiting Professor at the Shanghai Customs College, where he delivers Post Graduate units in Indirect Taxation as part of that Institutions Master of Taxation program.
Rob was based in Bangkok from 2004 and 2017 and has worked on many policy development and capacity building projects across South Asia and South East Asia, many of these projects being embedded with the Ministries of Finance as they seek to strengthen their capabilities in both policy making and revenue collection management. More recently, Rob has also been involved in combating the illicit trade in tobacco products and has assisted Interpol and the World Bank in drafting materials to assist law enforcement agencies.
Rob holds a PhD which involved research into excise taxation across the ASEAN region, and is a regular speaker at indirect taxation meetings and conferences.
