Last month (October 2014) CCES CEO, Professor David Widdowson, chaired the Global Customs and Trade Facilitation Summit, held in Dubai under the patronage of H. E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, United Arab Emirates, in partnership with Dubai Customs. During his visit to the UAE he took the opportunity to meet with Director of Dubai Customs, H. E. Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih; the Acting General Manager of the UAE Federal Customs Authority, H. E. Mr. Khalid Ali Al-Bustani; and the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs, H. E. Dr. Mohammed Al Mehrezi; to discuss regional developments.
Following the conference, Professor Widdowson visited Bahrain where he met with the President of Customs, H. E. Mr. Mohamed Al-Khalifa; the Director General of Customs Clearance and Inspection, H. E. Mr. Ahmad Al-Khalifa; and other senior staff. A highlight was his visit to the King Fahd Causeway border clearance facility which connects the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
