About Us

Message from the CEO

Welcome to the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies at Charles Sturt University, the world’s leading provider of training, education and research in the highly specialised areas of customs, excise and border management.

Our international leadership role has grown progressively over the past two decades, during which time we have worked closely with the World Customs Organization to raise the academic standing of the customs profession. Among other things, this has resulted in the establishment of the WCO Professional Standards, the International Network of Customs Universities and our flagship academic publication, the World Customs Journal.

The thousands of graduates whom we are proud to recognise as CCES alumni have risen to prominence in numerous roles within customs and the broader international trading community. It is very satisfying to see them applying their knowledge and skills in customs administrations, other government agencies, international organisations and private companies in over 120 countries.

Whether you are seeking to improve your personal knowledge, skills and competence in customs-related subjects, or looking for a professional partner to support your organisation’s training and development needs, we will be happy to provide you with the highest quality practical, academically sound products and services to meet you particular requirements.
