CCES has been engaged by the Australian International Trade and Transport Industry to undertake a research project on the Australian National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF). The aim of the project is to develop an industry position for presentation to Government on the membership, mandate and governance arrangements of the NCTF; with a view to enhancing the Committee’s ability to influence a meaningful trade facilitation agenda that reflects the needs and aspirations of Australia’s international trading community.

Supporting CCES in this research is the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. (CBFCA); the Australian Federation of International Forwarders (AFIF); the Export Council of Australia (ECA); the Conference of Asia Pacific Express Carriers (CAPEC) and Shipping Australia (SA). During March, CCES and the Industry Associations will be holding a joint workshop and targeted interviews in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. The CCES research team will document industry priorities and ambitions in relation to the facilitation of international trade.

The outcome of the proposed project will potentially benefit the Australian international trading community as a whole, as it seeks to enhance what is (or should be) Australia’s most influential forum on trade facilitation. More information on the Research Project can be found at ANCTF-backgrounder

Workshops are being held in Brisbane (20 March), Sydney (21 March), Canberra (23 March) and Melbourne (24 March) to provide companies with the opportunity to meet the research team and directly provide feedback to them.
