Last Round of Training in Laos PDR

Laos_Pic

In the lead up to Christmas, CCES continued the Laos Trade Facilitation Development Program by conducting both Train the Trainer and Management Development workshops centred on trade facilitation and cooperative efforts among the Government Departments and the public and private sectors in Laos. The Train the Trainer Program was conducted in Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Luang Prabang Province some 300km north of the country’s capital Vientiane, on the banks of the Mekong River. The course coincided with the 20 year anniversary of Luang Prabang being registered as a World Heritage city by UNESCO.

The course was attended by 16 participants in total. Importantly, a wide variety of Government departments were represented along with the Laos National Chamber of Commerce.

CCES trainers Brent Juratowitch and Andy Johnson then moved onto the capital Vientianne where they delivered the Trade Facilitation course. For the first time in this series of workshops this course required simultaneous translation as over half the 16 participants were from the provinces. There was also participation by the Laos PDR Department of Import and Export (DIMEX) personnel in delivering sessions, a key objective for the project.

Like the previous courses, Andy & Brent were impressed by the high level of participation and support the attendees demonstrated.

This is the last in this series of workshops under the current World Bank project. The project has run over 14 months and is considered a great success by DIMEX.
