From 20 April to 1 May 2015 CCES Lecturer Michael Neilsen taught Direct Taxation Principles and Practice to 29 postgraduate Chinese students at the Shanghai Customs College (SCC). The students were all enrolled in the Masters of Taxation degree course from SCC. Direct Taxation is the second subject to be taught in English to these students.

Michael said that it was a great honour to teach these students who were enthusiastic and particularly interested in Australia’s experiences dealing with tax evasion and cross border transactions.

CCES and SCC have been cooperating in the area of Customs research and education for several years. In November 2014 Dr Mikhail Kashubsky (CCES) delivered a course on Environmental Taxation and in 2013 Dr Li Li (SCC) spent 3 months at CCES as a visiting Lecturer.

During his two week visit to SCC Michael met with Professor Meng the Dean of the Faculty and other members of the faculty.
